For: Home owners; Renters; Landlords [House]
Overview
The Solar Hot Water Heater Subsidy provides rebates of $500 or $700 to Western Australian households who install environmentally friendly, gas-boosted solar water heaters.
Key eligibility
To qualify for this rebate, you must:
- install a new and complete family-size gas-boosted solar hot water system to a private home
- install a system that is accredited under Australian Standard 2712 and purchased from an approved supplier
- have purchased and installed your system in the 12 months before your application is received by the Public Utilities Office
- be pre-approved for the rebate if you're installing to a new home.
Homeowners, landlords and renters are eligible for the rebate. If you're renting, you'll need your landlord's permission before the new system is installed.
A number of other conditions apply. Check your eligibility on the Western Australian Government's Public Utilities Office website.
Items covered
The rebate amount for your new system depends on the type of gas that you are connected to:
- $500 for natural gas-boosted solar water heaters.
- $700 for bottled LP gas-boosted solar water heaters used in areas without a reticulated (mains) gas supply.
You might be able to save even more with the Australian Government's Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs).
