LPG Vehicle Scheme

Overview

The LPG Vehicle Scheme offers grants of $2,000 towards the purchase of a new vehicle already fitted with LPG or a grant of $1,500 for the LPG conversion of a new or used vehicle. You can only apply for one grant every 3 years.

By converting to LPG, you can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions from your car, one of the main contributors to climate change.

Key eligibility

To be eligible for a grant, you must:

• have purchased a new LPG vehicle or made an LPG conversion after 1 July 2009
• lodge an application within 12 months from the date of LPG conversion or date of purchase of a new LPG vehicle
• use the vehicle for private use.

After 30 June 2010 the amount paid will reduce annually until 30 June 2014.

Your application form should include copies of:

• your vehicle registration papers
• proof that you have paid for the parts and installation of the LPG conversion kit or a new LPG vehicle
• your current driver’s licence.

The LPG Vehicle Scheme provides assistance for:

• purchase of a new LPG motor vehicle
• purchase of parts and installation of LPG conversion kit for a new or used petrol or diesel motor vehicle.

You must apply for purchase or conversion of a private vehicle to be eligible for the scheme. A number of conditions apply. Check the customer guidelines at the Ausindustry LPG Vehicle Scheme website.
