Overview

The Bushfire Affected Rainwater Tank Grant can help Victorian residents rebuilding homes after the 2009 bushfires to purchase and install a rainwater tank(s).

The Rainwater Tank Grant only applies to new homes and is only available to people whose residences were destroyed as a result of the 2009 Victorian Bushfires.

Grants will be available for installations until 30 June 2012 with claims to be lodged by 30 September 2012.

Key eligibility

To be eligible for this grant, you must:

• have a residence that was destroyed as a result of the 2009 Victorian Bushfires
• be eligible to receive a Destroyed Homes Payment confirmed by the Victorian Bushfire Appeal Fund (VBAF)
• have rebuilt your home in Victoria
• have installed the rainwater tank(s) for the collection and storage of rainwater for home or garden use

Items covered

Rebate amounts will be provided on the following basis:

• $1,000 for a 4,000 litre or larger tank connected to all toilets and laundry
• $900 for a 4,000 litre or larger tank connected to all toilets
• $500 for 2,000-3,999 litre tank connected to all toilets (connection to laundry optional)

If one or more rainwater tanks are purchased and installed under the rebate then the total will be the capacity of the tanks combined, for example two tanks of 2,000 litres and 3,000 litres each are considered a single 5,000 litre tank.

You can only claim one grant for each property that was eligible for a Victorian Bushfire Appeal Fund (VBAF) Destroyed Homes Payment.

If the total cost of the rainwater tank and installation is less than the grant claimed, it will be reduced to equal the total cost.
