Overview

If you're a concession card holder in South Australia, and you own and occupy your home, you can be paid a rebate of $500 to help with the cost of installing a new solar hot water or electric heat pump hot water system.

Key eligibility

To be eligible for this rebate, you must hold at least one of the following Australian Government concession cards:

  • Centrelink Health Care Card.
  • Centrelink or Department of Veterans' Affairs Pensioner Concession Card.
  • Department of Veterans' Affairs Gold Card - Totally and Permanently Incapacitated.

The rebate is only available to home owners who install an eligible water heater at their principal place of residence. Home owners have six months from the date of installation to lodge their application.

A number of other conditions apply. Check your eligibility on the South Australian Government website.

Items covered

The eligible systems you can receive a rebate on depend on your circumstances and include:

  • Heat pump electric hot water systems.

While you can only claim the rebate after the system is installed, some installers and water heater retailers may include the $500 rebate as a point of sale discount.
