Overview
The Queensland Government Solar Hot Water Rebate provides rebates of $600 or $1,000 (for eligible pensioners and low income earners) to Queensland households who replace an electric storage hot water system with a solar or heat pump hot water system.
Key eligibility
To be eligible for this rebate you must:
- have replaced an existing electric storage hot water system installed at your principal place of residence in Queensland
- have installed a solar hot water system or heat pump that is eligible for at least 20 Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs)
- have the solar water heater installed by suitably licensed parties (current Building Services Authority and occupational licences)
- have purchased the solar water heater on or after 13 April 2010
- be the owner or tenant when and where the system was installed
- have installed a system that meets the minimum warranty periods
- lodge your rebate application within 6 months of installation.
If applying for the $1,000 pensioner or low-income earner rebate, you must also hold a current and valid:
- Centrelink Pension Concession card
- Centrelink Low-Income Health Care card
- Commonwealth Seniors Health card, or
- Department of Veterans' Affairs Pension Concession card (Blue card only).
