For: Home owners; Renters; Landlords [House; Apartment]
Overview
The Energy Smart Rebate helps Northern Territory households save energy and money with a 50 per cent rebate, up to the value of $200, on the cost and installation of selected energy-saving items. You may be eligible for a rebate on a range of items including energy-efficient light globes, fridge and freezer seals, power boards, timers, sensors and power usage meters.
Key eligibility
To be eligible for this rebate, you must:
- be applying on behalf of a Northern Territory household that is primarily residential and not a place of business
- live in the household or own a residential property and provide copies of receipts for purchase and installation costs (where applicable)
- not sell the rebated items
- not have previously received the maximum rebate of $200 through this scheme for your household or any residential investment properties
- purchased items after 1 May 2009.
Homeowners, renters and landlords are eligible for the program. If you're renting, you'll need your landlord's permission to install some items. If you're a landlord you can also apply to claim for any residential investment properties that you own. Property managers can't apply.
A number of other conditions apply. Check your eligibility on the Northern Territory Government's Natural Resources, Environment, the Arts and Sport website.
