Overview
NSW residents who are social housing tenants, energy utility hardship customers or who hold an eligible concession card can improve their household energy with the Home Power Savings Program. The home service involves an energy expert visiting your home to do a free energy audit and action plan and to provide you with a range of products and services to help you save energy, water and money.
Key eligibility
To be eligible for the Home Power Savings Program, you must:
- live in NSW
- contribute to the electricity bill for the property.
You (or one member of the household) must be a social housing tenant or energy utility hardship customer or hold one of the following concessions cards:
- a Commonwealth Pensioner Concession Card
- a Commonwealth Health Care Card
- one of three nominated Department of Veterans Affairs concession card.
Homeowners, landlords and renters are eligible to apply for the program. If you're renting, the energy expert will seek permission from your landlord before installing some of the power saving kit items.

Items covered
As part of the program, the following power saving kit items will be installed by the energy expert:
- a stand-by saver power board to turn off standby power
- 4 energy efficient light globes
- a water-efficient showerhead
- a shower timer
- a tap aerator
- draught-proof strips for around the door
- 2 door snakes.
You'll also receive a Power Savings Action Plan to help you implement changes around your home.
